We Still Imagine, Make and Read Books
Artist Book Fair at Space 776, New York
Space 776 is pleased to present the Artist Book Fair: We Still Imagine, Make and Read Books, an exhibition/art fair of books made by visual artists, graphic designers and writers. How have text-based, printed mediums such as books been changed by the prominence of digital, Internet based mediums, aka smart phone culture?
This show features books that consider the present day medium of books. The books in this show achieve their goals in the terms of: defining books, book as object (tangibility encountering virtual life), narrative book (entry point for the story, making participatory entries by using invented bindings), chapbook (using self-publication systems), and image book (archive method, high-resolution).
This show is curated by visual artist Nari Kim and influenced by the artist Constance De Jong.
